If you are on the lookout for a wedding venue that is LGBTQ+ friendly and suited for smaller, more intimate weddings, Traquair House near Edinburgh, in the Scotland (Scottish Borders) might be your answer. As a queer elopement photographer in Scotland, I'm always on the lookout for venues that are stunning, affordable and inclusive.

Traquair House is a 50-minute drive from Edinburgh, arranging transport is totally manageable for your guests - if you wish to have any.
An elopement or micro wedding at Traquair is possible for £1650 with dinner, up to 6 guests. and accommodation for you two in a beautiful room in Scotland's oldest inhabited house.
The next package is up to 24 guests for £2795(for more guests and bigger packages, check out Traquairs website).

For exchanging your vows, you can choose to have a garden ceremony in the walled garden,
the Catholic chapel, the High Drawing room, Cupids Garden, the Maze or the Yew Tree Circle - options for truly every season, all magical and straight out of a movie set.
If you are planning an elopement with no guests, 2 witnesses are provided by Traquair House.

One of the reasons why this venue is such an amazing option is comfort: I work with LGBTQ+ couples who are looking to elope from all over the world, and planning your wedding or elopement from another country is not easy - so you want to go with an option that is beautiful and fits your standards - but also easy to plan for. Traquair House is beautiful just as it is. A few candles and flowers add to the atmosphere, and it is provided in the packages, but there is no need for elaborate decoration - and that can be a key when planning your wedding from abroad or on a budget.
As married-to-be couples can stay 2 nights at the premises, it also makes the whole experience super relaxing - you can get ready in one of the stunning rooms of the house, walk up to your ceremony, have your dinner and reception - all without leaving the estate. This is a key element, especially when considering transportation; thinking about driving, worrying about parking, or traffic is the last thing you want to do on your wedding day.
As an LGBTQ+ elopement photographer, I feel it is important to keep in mind that sometimes couples opt to elope or have a small celebration abroad to keep costs low and have a more stress-free and relaxed day. I believe Traquair House in the Scottish Borders is the perfect place for having a beautiful, easy celebration of your lives joining together.
